Geo-Siberia 2010_press release
Dear colleagues,
It is our great pleasure to invite you to the Seventh International Exhibition and Scientific Congress GEO-Siberia-2011 on geodesy/surveying, cartography, geoinformation, photogrammetry, earth remote sensing, environmental management, land management, cadastres, forestry management, mine surveying, geology, geophysics, subsurface management, customized instrumentation, thermophysics, micro process engineering, and metrology organized by the Siberian State Academy of Geodesy and ITE Siberian Fair, which will be held at the international exhibition centre «ITE Siberian Fair» in Novosibirsk on April 27 — 29, 2011 along with SIBERIA OIL & GAS, SIBMINING specialized exhibitions. We are expecting more than 170 companies to take part in the exhibition, and more than 500 presentations on GEO-Siberia forum. The general sponsor is NP AGP Meridian + (Research and Production Aerial Surveying Company, Moscow, Russian Federation). The well-known international societies and organizations: FIG, DVW, ISPRS, ICA, DGfK, Leica Geosystems, EAGE, and GIS Association render their great support and contribution to GEO-Siberia that has become a platform for exchanging experiences on actual problems in geodesy, catography, geoinformation, cadastre, land management, photogrammetry, environmental monitoring, GNSS/GLONASS, earth remote sensing, laser scanning and lidar technologies, as well as developing education and training programs. GEO-Siberia unified professionals from Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Israel, Czech Republic, Hungary, Australia, the USA, Japan, China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
The international exhibition and scientific congress GEO-Siberia have demonstrated the growing interest to this event not only in Russia but abroad too, collaboration of professionals and scientists from the whole world, and an opportunity for cooperation. The main task of GEO-Siberia is to get acquainted with advanced experience, state-of-the-art technologies and equipment, procedures and software for efficient environmental and mineral resources management, and advanced innovative and investment projects. GEO-Siberia provides with information relevant not only for Russian professionals but also for the whole world. The exhibitors have introduced their newest equipment to be used for engineering surveys, facilities for environmental monitoring, technologies for geospatial data acquisition, and equipment for minerals, oil and gas exploitation. Among the forthcoming key issues is the development of raw material processing throughout the Siberian region and industrial complex modernization. The problems of environmental monitoring management in regions where the non-renewal exploitation is carried out should be solved using advanced and innovative technologies owing to which professionals will have an opportunity to forecast unfavorable seismic, disaster and emergency events and to take necessary preventive measures.
The international workshop on Early Warning and Crisis, Disaster and Emergency Management was held within the 6th International Exhibition and Scientific Congress Geo-Siberia 2010on 27—29 April 2010 in Novosibirsk. ICA traditionally endorses Geo-Siberia, the event which has importance and influence on science, education, public and private activities related to spatial information, is growing from year to year. The workshop was organized by the ICA Working Group on Cartography on Early Warning and Crisis Management, the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE), the Regional Center of Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Siberian State Academy of Geodesy (SSGA). The workshop confirmed growing interest in early warning and emergency/crisis management topics, stressed the importance of cooperation between international organizations in the area of geoinformation and cartography, as well as in the digital Earth at a professional and academic level, and demonstrated practical applications and potential of maps, GIS, Web mapping and visualizations. The international workshop on Early Warning and Crisis, Disaster and Emergency Management will be held next year too.
The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) organized two important events: special session on Updating Spatial Data Bases, where were discussed issues on updating spatial data bases using satellite images, air photographs, mapping and lidar data, spatial data base maintenance and services, 3D mapping from space, spatial data base creation for 3D digital city and updating; and ISPRS White Elephants Club Session for young scientists and PhD students.
Current issues in real property asset market, town-planning activity, the state of the art and development trends of high-precision global navigation satellite system (GLONASS/GPS), technologies for spatial data gathering, GIS optimization, new technologies for exploration and prospecting of mineral resources, subsurface management, mining, and problems resulting from target optimization control, innovative developments, economic and investment aspects of surveying, mining and geological industries both in Russia and throughout the world were discussed at round tables.
Within 2005—2010 years the exhibition attracts increasingly professionals and scientists from more than 550 companies, 45 Russian and foreign cities, and the scientific congress — 778 universities and 60 companies from Russia and abroad.
As a result of six-year congress activity, more than 2500 reports have been presented, 52 proceedings were published and a number of CD was released.
The forthcoming event GEO-Siberia-2011 will also pay attention to laser scanning (the experience, challenges and results), GLONASS/GPS, geodetic monitoring, integration of geosciences, higher-education institutions and business, innovations in education, international cooperation, etc.
